Meet Our Alpacas

Alpacas are a domestic species originating from the wild Vicuña, native to the Andes mountains in South America. Native Andean people, the Inca, domesticated these animals mainly for the use of their precious fleece and, to a lesser extent, for meat and use as pack animals. Nowadays, these friendly animals can be seen in sectors such as Animal Assisted Therapy and companionship.

Did you know?

  • Did you know that alpacas are known for their excellent eyesight and can see almost 360 degrees around them? This unique trait helps them stay alert and aware of their surroundings.
  • Alpaca wool is extremely soft which makes it difficult to spin into wool to create clothes, blankets and other soft furnishings, which is why its so expensive.
  • Alpacas only have 2 toes and they share this with their camelid family which includes Camels, Llamas, Alpacas, Guanacos and Vicuñas.
