Meet our Bennett’s Wallabies

Bennet Wallabies, also known as Red-Necked Wallabies, are a medium sized marsupial with a brownish-grey colour with a red patch of fur at the back of their necks. Like all marsupials they have a pouch with they rear and carry their young. 

Range

Originating from Australia, Bennett’s Wallabies are known for their agility and friendly nature. 

Diet

These herbivorous animals enjoy a diet of grasses, leaves, and herbs. 

Lifespan

Bennett’s Wallabies have an average lifespan of 9 to 12 years in the wild. In the protected environment of our park, they can live even longer with captive individuals having an average lifespan of 15 - 18 years!

Conservation Status

While Bennett’s Wallabies are not currently listed as a threatened species, conservation efforts are essential to protect their natural habitats. By visiting Greenacres Animal Park, you support our conservation initiatives.

  • Their ears can move independently and can rotate 180 degrees,, this helps them to stay alert.
  • Their tails weight a lot! this helps them to keep their balance when standing upright.
  • They are very closely related to kangaroos which is why they look so similar.
