Meet Our Bagot Goats
This species of goat is a small breed and can be identified by its striking black and white coat markings, they also possess tall curved horns. They are believed to be Britain's oldest breed of goat and can be backed up by documentation with the first being recorded in 1389!

Range
Bagot goats are believed to have originated in Staffordshire and named after Sir John Bagot who kept the first recorded herd at his home in Blithfield Estate. They are now found in collections throughout the UK.
Diet
Goats are browsing animals and prefer dense fibrous forage such as twigs and leaves but may also graze on things like grass.
Lifespan
Bagot Goats have an average lifespan of 10-14 years when well cared for. At the park, we provide them with the best care to ensure they live a long and happy life.
Conservation status
Bagot Goats are classified as 'Vulnerable' by the Rare Breeds Survival Trust due to their declining numbers. We are proud to be part of conservation efforts to protect and preserve this precious breed.
